As Holocaust Remembrance Day begins in Israel, the annual state ceremony at Yad Vashem is replaced with a pre-recorded broadcast due to the heightened security situation.

The program includes addresses by President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The memorial torch will be lit by former Ashkenazi chief rabbi Rabbi Israel Meir Lau, himself a Holocaust survivor and chairman of the Yad Vashem Council.
The central theme for this year’s state commemorations is “The Jewish Family during the Holocaust.”
During the ceremony, six Holocaust survivors will light torches: Saadia Bahat, Michael Sidko, Miriam “Daisy” Bar Lev, Moshe Harari, Ilana Fallach and Avigdor Neumann.
Survivors’ remarks will be made by Haviva Burst. Holocaust survivor Menachem Neeman will recite El Maleh Rahamim, a prayer for the souls of the martyrs.
