A man who opened fire at a New Hampshire country club yelled ‘free Palestine’ while carrying out a deadly shooting, a witness says.

An adult male was killed and several other people were injured in the shooting and ensuing chaos at the Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, according to Attorney General John Formella and Nashua Police Chief Kevin Rourke.

The suspected shooter, who is in custody, is also described as an adult male.

A witness tells local ABC affiliate WMUR that the shooter appeared to target the victim.

“He looked like a target, that he was going right for this person. So, I feel terrible for him,” the witness is quoted saying. “What he said was the children were safe and, you know, ‘free Palestine.'”

Senior Assistant Attorney General Peter Hinckley declines to confirm the report or whether the killing is being probed as a possible hate crime, citing the ongoing investigation.

Information on the wounded victims’ conditions is not immediately available.

More than 100 people were on the Sky Meadow property when the shooting took place, according to WMUR.
