Yesh Atid said to believe it will be able to declare government with Bennett on Wednesday

Yesh Atid believes that party leader Yair Lapid and Yamina chief Naftali Bennett are able to form a government on Wednesday, the Haaretz daily reports.

Wednesday is the last day of Lapid’s official mandate to assemble a coalition.

Yamina had been due to meet this morning to discuss whether to form a government with Yesh Atid and other parties opposed to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but the meeting was pushed back to this afternoon after the premier proposed a coalition in which New Hope leader Gideon Sa’ar will be prime minister first, followed by Netanyahu and then Bennett. Sa’ar has rejected the offer, blocking Netanyahu’s right-wing religious bloc from securing a majority together with Yamina and New Hope.

Before Netanyahu’s offer and the delaying of Yamina’s faction meeting, reports indicated Bennett could announce he will seek to form a government with Lapid as soon as today.
