Man shot dead in Arraba, teenager injured by stray bullet in Jisr az-Zarqa

A man was killed Friday evening after being shot in the Arab city of Arraba in northern Israel, in the latest case of violence that has plagued Arab Israeli communities in recent years.
Hebrew language media later identified the victim as Yosef Asalaa, 30, who recently became a father to a baby girl.
Asalaa was critically injured in the incident and later succumbed to his wounds at the Baruch Padeh Medical Center in Tiberias, reports said.
Police said they would investigate.
Several scenarios were being considered, reports said, including an accidental discharge of a weapon, as well as premeditated murder.
Meanwhile, a 14-year-old boy was seriously injured Friday evening after being hit by a stray bullet in the Arab town of Jisr az-Zarqa in northern Israel.
According to an initial investigation into the incident, unknown assailants sought revenge for the death of another young man, Jalal Amash, who was shot dead in the same town earlier this week. To that end, they arrived at the scene and opened fire on a building where they believed Amash’s killer was hiding, accidentally hitting the teenage boy who was standing nearby.

Amash was killed while at a grocery store in the coastal town located north of Netanya. He was rushed to Hadera’s Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in serious condition and later died of his injuries.
Police have so far arrested 11 suspects on suspicion of involvement in the deadly shooting.
Arab communities have seen a surge in violence in recent years amid a rise in organized crime and the proliferation of illegal weapons.
On Sunday a woman was shot dead in the southern Bedouin city of Lakiya. Resident Zinab Alsaana, 45, was rushed to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba in critical condition after being shot twice in her legs.
She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Initial reports carried by Hebrew-language media indicated that Alsaana was shot while in her car alongside her son, who is thought to have been the target of an assassination attempt due to an ongoing feud. The son’s condition was not immediately known.
