Motorcyclist killed, 3 lightly hurt after bike collides with car in Haifa

A female motorcyclist was killed and three others injured Saturday when a bike crashed into a car in the northern city of Haifa, police and medics said.

Paramedics found the motorcycle rider, a 44-year-old resident of Kiryat Haim, unconscious and severely injured, according to a statement from the Magen David Adom ambulance service.

The woman was evacuated in critical condition to Rambam Medical Center and was declared dead by doctors shortly after her arrival, police said.

The three passengers of the car, a 60-year-old mother and her children, aged 20 and 16, were lightly hurt and also taken to the hospital for treatment, according to the statement.

Police opened an investigation into the crash.

In a separate incident, a five-year-old boy was seriously injured in the Tel Aviv suburb of Givat Shmuel after being hit by a motorcycle, police said.

The boy was taken for treatment to Rabin Medical Center in Petah Tikva, and police said they were investigating the matter.

Later in the evening, a Palestinian man was killed and another seriously hurt in a collision with an Israeli vehicle along Route 60, between Rechalim Junction and Tapuach Junction in the West Bank, police and medics said.

The Israeli man in the second car was lightly injured, according to the statements.

Paramedics said they found one of the Palestinians, in his 30s, unconscious with critical injuries, and were forced to declare him dead at the scene.

The other passenger, also in his 30s, was found unconscious, and was taken to Rabin Medical Center in serious condition after being treated by paramedics on the scene.

The Israeli man, in his 50s, was driving alone. He was found conscious and suffered bruising, and was also taken to the hospital.

According to a preliminary investigation, police suspect the accident occurred when the Israeli vehicle hit the Palestinians while they were conducting repairs to their vehicle on the side of the road.

According to the latest data from the National Road Safety Authority, 325 people have been killed in 298 traffic accidents since the beginning of the year.
