Palestinian Authority security forces on Tuesday returned two Israeli citizens who illegally entered the West Bank city of Nablus.
The men entered the city overnight, and Israeli authorities said they were investigating the incident, according to a Israel Radio report.
Nablus, an area of frequent clashes, is under the full control of the PA and Israeli civilians and vehicles require a permit from the IDF to enter. The ancient city is also the site of Joseph’s Tomb, where religious Jews frequently pray in prearranged, coordinated visits.
Last week, the IDF arrested three Palestinians connected to the murder of Ben-Yosef Livnat, the nephew of former minister Limor Livnat, near Joseph’s Tomb two years ago.
The three worked as officers in the Palestinian Authority’s security establishment, and had recently been released from jail after serving time for Livnat’s killing, the Ma’an news agency reported.
