A scuffle broke out at Pardes Hanna Agricultural High School in the north of Israel between staff and a parent, leading to a teacher being hospitalized, police said Wednesday.
A father arrived at the school in the early afternoon and allegedly attacked students who were involved in a fight with his son. Teachers came over to break up the fight and were then also attacked by the enraged parent.
A student told the Ynet news site that the father came to the school after receiving word that his son was taken to hospital for injuries to his face.
“He began to go wild and struggle with the teachers that tried to control and calm him down. Then one of the staff members took a punch in the face,” the student said.
The teacher, 47, was lightly injured and was taken by ambulance to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera for treatment.
Police arrived at the scene and began to collect evidence for an investigation into the incident.
The Pardes Hanna-Karkur Municipality condemned the incident and noted that Mayor Hagar Perry Yagur accompanied the teacher to the hospital.
“We are taking this violent incident very seriously and won’t tolerate our education staff being harmed,” the statement read, adding that school staff was cooperating with the investigation.
