Security officials at Ben-Gurion International Airport on Sunday detained an American tourist who had stowed an IDF tear-gas grenade in her luggage as a novelty souvenir.

Airport personnel questioned the unidentified 40-year-old woman, but released her after establishing that she posed no security threat.

It was not clear how the passenger acquired the grenade, which was later transferred to the Israel Police.
