Woman’s body found buried near Hadera home; police arrest her brother

A woman’s corpse was found buried in the yard of a Hadera home Monday, with law enforcement officials suspecting she was murdered by her brother.
Police said they opened an investigation and arrested a male relative of Mia Cohen, 49, on suspicion he was involved in her death.
Hebrew media reported that the detained man is Cohen’s brother.
According to Ynet, the suspect had threatened his sister and broke into her house around a month ago, leading to a restraining order being issued against him.
It was unclear if the order was still in effect at the time of her death.
The woman’s body was reportedly found by one of her acquaintances who went looking for her after failing to reach her over the phone. He encountered the suspected brother inside her house, Ynet reported.
When her friend asked him where his sister had disappeared to, the brother replied that she had gone to the beach.
But upon searching around the yard, the friend came upon a mound of dirt and began digging. He soon discovered her lifeless body.
Paramedics declared her dead at the scene.
Hagit Pe’er, who chairs the women’s advocacy organization Na’amat, called for a thorough investigation by law enforcement into not only into the suspected murder but police’s failure to prevent it.
