A 14-year-old boy was moderately injured in Tel Aviv Wednesday afternoon, apparently after a firecracker went off in his hands.
The teenager was evacuated to Ichilov Hospital with moderate injuries to the chest.
Police said it appeared the boy had arrived at a preschool in the coastal city’s Aliyat Hanoar street and entered its yard when the firecracker, which he had been holding, detonated.
At the time of the incident the preschool children were napping indoors.
A caretaker who heard the explosion and found the injured boy outside called medics to the scene.
Following the boy’s transfer to the hospital, police sappers scanned the scene to determine there was no further danger from explosives in the schoolyard.
