Two Israelis were killed and another was injured Saturday in a head-on car crash in northern California, it was announced Sunday.
A statement from the Israeli Foreign Ministry said the Israeli consul in San Francisco was on the way to the site of the accident, assisting the families and maintaining contact with local authorities.
The identities of the two victims were not immediately released.
The Ynet news site described the victims as a a young man and young woman. The accident reportedly took place near Chico, California.
In a separate incident, on Thursday an Israeli citizen drowned in Viñales, Cuba, according to Hebrew-language reports.

His body was recovered on Friday by local police.
According to a report in Ynet, there has been a delay in returning the victim’s body to Israel because Israel does not have representation in Cuba.
There was no immediate confirmation from the Foreign Ministry.
