Riots erupted Saturday afternoon on a road near the West Bank village of Duma, where the home of a Palestinian family was firebombed Friday by suspected Jewish extremists. Palestinian toddler Ali Dawabsha was killed in the attack, while his parents and older brother suffered severe burns. They are being treated in Israeli hospitals.

Some 200 Palestinian youths wearing ski masks threw rocks at Israeli security forces and burned tires near the village Saturday. The road, a main West Bank artery, is used by both Palestinians and Israelis. It was closed to traffic due to the riots.

In the Jalazoun refugee camp near Ramallah, 10 Palestinians were lightly hurt by smoke inhalation during riots that erupted at the end of the funeral for a youth killed on Friday by IDF fire.

During the riot, some 50 demonstrators threw rocks and Molotov cocktails at IDF soldiers, and burned tires that started a fire in an open area in the camp. Ten of the demonstrators were lightly hurt when they inhaled the toxic fumes. The soldiers were able to eventually quell the flames.

The funeral in the camp was held for 17-year-old youth Laith Khaldi who threw a Molotov cocktail at an IDF pillbox post not far from Yitzhar, a West Bank settlement. Soldiers fired at the teen and wounded him in the chest.

He succumbed to his wounds in a hospital in Ramallah several hours later.

The riots were the latest in a series of violent eruptions across the West Bank that started Friday morning, after the terror attack in Duma.

Earlier on Saturday, clashes erupted between settlers and Palestinians from the village of Qusra, southeast of Nablus, when the Palestinians tried to prepare the land for farming using heavy machinery, the Ynet website reported.

Security forces were called to the site to separate the Palestinians and the settlers, who were from the Esh Kodesh outpost. During the confrontation, the Palestinians also fought with the troops and threw stones.

On Friday, IDF troops and Border Police officers dispersed riots near the Qalandiya checkpoint, in the village of Isawiya northeast of Jerusalem, in Hebron and in several other locations. Late Friday night, a group of Palestinians failed in an attempt to set fire to Joseph’s Tomb in Nablus.

The military increased its presence in the West Bank following the terror attack in Duma.
