WASHINGTON — Jonathan Sacks, the former British chief rabbi, is receiving a $250,000 award from a foundation dedicated to advancing conservative principles.
The Milwaukee-based Bradley Foundation said this week that Sacks would receive one of four Bradley Prizes. Each carries a stipend of $250,000.
In a statement, the foundation called Sacks an “international religious leader, philosopher, award-winning author, respected moral voice.”
The foundation includes among its principles supporting “limited, competent government and a dynamic marketplace for economic, intellectual, and cultural activity.”
Sacks, the author of more than two dozen books, was awarded the $1.5 million Templeton Prize honoring a living person who has made an exceptional contribution to affirming life’s spiritual dimension, it was announced in March.
