Poland’s Jewish museum gets interior decoration

Museum aims to reconstruct the climate of Jewish towns and synagogues through historical objects and multimedia displays

WARSAW, Poland — Artists are at work in Warsaw’s new Jewish museum creating elaborate wall paintings that tell the story of Jewish life and culture in Poland.

The Museum of the History of Polish Jews, largely paid for by Poland’s government, aims to reconstruct the climate of Jewish towns and synagogues through historical objects, multimedia, images, replicas, models and quotations from chronicles and diaries.

On Monday, specialists were working on wall paintings representing small Jewish towns.

The museum building — located on territory within that was the Warsaw Ghetto during World War II — is already open to the visitors, serving as a cultural and educational center offering films and lectures.
