An Israeli woman had her car stolen — along with her toddler — at a gas station in northern Israel on Saturday, before security forces managed to locate it in a nearby Palestinian town in the West Bank.

According to police, the Rosh Haayin woman notified officers that someone had stolen her car at a gas station on the Route 6 highway, near Wadi Ara, with her one-and-a-half-year-old son still in the vehicle.

The Israel Defense Forces set up several roadblocks in the West Bank, close to where the carjacking took place, and began to search for the stolen vehicle.

According to the IDF, the car was found “after a few minutes” in Far’un, a Palestinian town south of Tulkarem and adjacent to the security barrier separating Israel from the West Bank.

Officials said the toddler was unharmed in the incident.

Police said they launched an investigation into the matter. No suspects were immediately detained.

Last August, a Palestinian car thief in the West Bank ditched an Israeli car after realizing there were two children sitting in the back seats.

Thefts of Israeli cars then taken into West Bank areas are a common occurrence.
