Blue and White-National Unity MK Pnina Tamano-Shata announces that she will today submit a symbolic motion to the Knesset, to be voted on following the end of the current parliamentary recess next month, expressing approval of US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip.

“There is an overwhelming majority among the people and also in the Knesset that support the Trump plan,” Tamano-Shata says in a statement released by her party.

“If the extremist government is unable to hold a serious debate on the issue and approve it, it must be brought to the Knesset. I am sure that more than 80 MKs will express support for the plan and send an important message to the people, the world and in particular the US administration.”

If approved, such a motion would be declarative and carry no legal weight but would constitute a strong political signal.

In a statement on Monday, Blue and White-National Unity chairman Benny Gantz expressed support for the Trump plan, declaring that it “must be implemented, our hostages brought home, Israel’s operational freedom maintained, Hamas’ terror regime in Gaza replaced and moderate Arab States instated instead as I proposed a year and a half ago.”

“We must not miss out on the opportunity to bring back the hostages, safeguard our security and catalyze a ‘Strategic Flip’ expanding the circles of regional normalization,” read an English-language statement from the former IDF chief.

In Hebrew, he added: “We won’t let petty politics thwart the deal.”

“This framework could have been reached long ago [but] better late than never,” he said in a separate message on social platform X.
