German, Iranian FMs to meet on Syria, nuclear deal
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe foreign ministers of Germany and Iran are taking part in a conference in Tehran on Saturday to discuss the situation in Syria and Iran’s future role in the region following the nuclear agreement.
The meeting is organized by the Munich Security Conference and the Institute for Political and International Studies.
The organizers say in a statement that German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif will meet with some 60 other participants for “an informal exchange.”
They said those attending include the foreign ministers of Afghanistan and Iraq, the prime minister of Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdish Regional Government and the UN’s deputy peace envoy for Syria.
