Germany offers ‘concrete’ support for Gaza plan, dispatches top diplomat to region

Germany hails United States President Donald Trump’s proposal for ending the war in Gaza and expresses Berlin’s willingness to help implement the plan.

In a German-language post on X, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz calls the plan “the best chance for an end to the war” and states that “Germany is ready to contribute to the implementation of the plan,” praising Israel for accepting it and calling on Hamas to do the same.

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul says he will travel to the region next weekend to work on bringing peace to the region.

Germany is prepared to support the plan “with concrete measures,” he says, adding that it “can pave the way to a broader conciliation process in the Middle East.”
