Hamas returning forces to Gaza border in effort to restore quiet — report
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleIn an effort to restore quiet, Hamas is returning some of its forces to the Gaza border with Israel for the first time since the start of deadly clashes in late March, Hadashot news reports.
The specific soldiers deployed have in the past been responsible for preventing other terror groups and lone wolves from firing at Israel.
The move is believed to be in response to clashes between Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. On Friday, a militant belonging to the latter group mistakenly hurled a grenade at a group of Hamas fighters, killing one and injuring several others.
Hadashot news says the Hamas forces have been stationed at at least two different points along the border.
