Hundreds attend funeral for terror victim without family

Hundreds of Israelis attend the funeral of terror victim Alon Govberg, after an appeal for mourners goes out on social media.

Govberg, who had no family, was killed in yesterday’s bus attack in Jerusalem, and buried this evening at Har HaMenuchot cemetery in the capital.

“We are here, together with the people of Israel — religious, secular, Haredim, old-timers and new immigrants — and we cry,” Danny Hirschberg, the head of the Bnei Akiva religious youth movement, tells the Arutz 7 website.

“We cry over a Jewish man, and this is what connects us. And this is the answer [to terror] — not checkpoints, unity and all of us together, weeping over another Jew whose blood was spilled.”
