A Hamas commander who advanced attacks on troops was killed in an Israeli strike in the Gaza Strip over the weekend, the IDF announces.

The IDF says that on Saturday it struck and killed Jamal Abu Aoun, “a platoon commander in the military wing of the Hamas terror organization, who also worked as a doctor at Yafa Hospital in Deir al-Balah.”

Abu Aoun “commanded Hamas terrorists and advanced and planned terror attacks against IDF troops and the State of Israel,” the military says, adding that recently, he was “involved in advancing force-building, rehabilitation, and rearmament efforts of the Hamas terror organization, in violation of the ceasefire agreement.”
