The Israeli military is gearing up for reprisal attacks by settlers against Palestinians following this morning’s deadly clash in the West Bank village of Tell.
The IDF says it is deploying forces ahead of the funeral for Benayahu Mellet, 32, who was killed in the incident, to prevent “confrontations” between Israelis and Palestinians.
A military official warns that there has been an “atmosphere” of revenge since the deadly incident, and calls to enter Palestinian villages and carry out attacks. The official says the army’s main goal for the coming hours is to maintain order in the area.
Palestinian media has reported at least two incidents of settlers rampaging through Palestinian towns, with at least two people injured.
