Israel will temporarily halt fire in southern Gaza from 9 a.m. to allow for the Rafah border crossing into Egypt to open, Reuters news agency reports.

The move is agreed on by the US, Egypt and Israel, the report says, citing two Egyptian security sources.

The crossing will likely be open briefly to allow aid to enter the Strip and to let foreign passport holders leave.

Egypt fears a mass exodus of Palestinian refugees into its territory.
