Israeli who filmed himself urinating on a mosque to remain in detention until Sunday

The young man arrested this week on suspicion of urinating on a mosque will remain in detention until Sunday, police announce.

The 20-year-old Israeli filmed himself urinating on the wall of Al-Uzair Mosque in Abu Ghosh, outside Jerusalem, and then posted the video to TikTok.

He was arrested overnight Wednesday-Thursday, after the video went viral.

Jerusalem District officers finished last night interrogating the suspect, who is suspected of “insulting religion” and “behavior that could disturb the public peace,” police say.

He was brought to the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court earlier today where he was ordered to remain in police custody for another three days.
