More than 10,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed in Lebanon since a ceasefire took effect in the war between Israel and the Hezbollah terror group, the head of the country’s National Council for Scientific Research says.

“Since the current ceasefire… we have witnessed 5,386 housing units that were completely destroyed, and 5,246 housing units damaged,” CRNS chief Chadi Abdallah tells a news conference broadcast by local media.

The IDF has drawn up a plan to establish a “security zone” in southern Lebanon, which involves demolishing Lebanese villages near the border and setting up army posts several kilometers inside the country in order to protect Israeli border villages and distance the threat posed by Hezbollah.
