Minister orders temporary suspension of activity at some off-shore gas rigs

Energy Minister Eli Cohen orders a “temporary suspension” of activity at “some of the natural gas wells” in the Mediterranean Sea.
He says alternative fossil fuels will be used to keep power functioning.
During the early days of the Gaza war, sparked by the deadly attack on southern Israel in October 2023, the Tamar gas platform was temporarily closed.
During the previous war with Iran in June, Israel’s other two gas platforms, Leviathan and Karish, temporarily stopped operating.
