About 1,000 people in Tel Aviv start marching from the IDF headquarters’ Kaplan Road entrance to the Likud party headquarters on King George Street.

The protest march is organized by parents of soldiers fighting in Gaza who demand an end to the war and a hostage deal.

Ahead of the march, somber music reminiscent of Israel’s Memorial Day plays from a van outside the IDF’s Kirya headquarters.

Protesters hoist Israeli flags, pictures of hostages and the yellow flags that have come to signify them. Some drivers on Kaplan’s opposite, east-bound lane honk in approval.

Still standing outside the Kirya, the protesters chant “We have no children for a political war” and “When will be the last casualty?” One group unfurls a large poster depicting an explosion, with the caption “Gaza is a death-trap.”

The march will take the protesters close to some 200 left-wing activists holding a silent vigil at Habima Square for Gaza’s children.

A few passersby, all young men, yell at the Habima Square activists, telling them to “go to Gaza” and branding them traitors, but the activists persist in their silence.

In addition to pictures of children killed since October 7, 2023, the left-wing activists hold large placards reading, “we’ve erred, we’ve betrayed, we, we’ve stolen” — the start of the litany of sins recited before and during Yom Kippur, which begins tomorrow night.
