The brother of slain Israeli embassy staffer Yaron Lischinsky will attend US President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address tonight as a guest of US House Speaker Mike Johnson.
Lischinsky and his partner, Sarah Milgrim, were fatally shot while leaving an American Jewish Committee event for young professionals and diplomats at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington last May.
In a press release announcing the guests who will be joining him at the address, Johnson says Hanan Lischinsky, Yaron’s brother, “has shown remarkable courage in shedding light on the extremism that took his brother’s life.”
“I am honored to invite him as my guest for President Trump’s State of the Union address,” adds Johnson.
The speaker will be hosting a number of other guests for the address, including the four crew members of NASA’s planned lunar spaceflight mission Artemis II, and the daughters of two people imprisoned by China — Dr. Gulshan Abbas, a Uyghur Muslim, and Hong Kong media tycoon Jimmy Lai.

Help us report truthfully on social media
As a multimedia journalist, my job is to take the quality, fact-based journalism produced by The Times of Israel newsroom and make it accessible across every platform — from Instagram posts to podcasts to short-form videos.
This is how many, especially young people, consume news these days. But misinformation is rampant on social media. Our team at ToI produces accurate, responsible short-form reporting on Israel and the Jewish world.
If you believe in the importance of factual social media journalism, please consider joining our reader support group, The Times of Israel Community. Your financial support is essential to sustain responsible multimedia reporting.
