A 15-year-old Palestinian teenager armed with a knife was arrested Tuesday evening at the Gush Etzion Junction, south of Jerusalem.
Officials said that a driver who had stopped at the junction, which serves as a popular hitchhiking post, became suspicious and called police.
The police arrived at the scene shortly after, and discovered a knife in the teen’s possession.
During initial questioning, the teenager admitted that he intended to “stab to death a Zionist,” but has not cooperated with security officials further.
The hitchhiking post at the Gush Etzion Junction has frequently been the site of Palestinian terror attacks against Israelis, prompting the IDF to bolster its presence along the West Bank highway on which it sits.

The junction is less than a kilometer away from where 26-year-old Dalia Lemkus was hit by a car and stabbed to death by a Palestinian in mid-November.
It was also where the three teenagers, Eyal Yifrach, Gil-ad Shaar and Naftali Fraenkel, were abducted by Hamas-linked terrorists before their murder in June.
