A video clip of dozens of fish bounding frantically above the surface of the Sea of Galilee late last week has gone viral.

The video of the silverfish, posted on Facebook by a local fisherman, drew over 107,000 views by Sunday evening.

“Oy, my Kinneret [Sea of Galilee], for 30 years I’ve been fishing and I haven’t seen anything like this,” wrote Shauli Mizrahi.

It was not immediately clear what caused the unusual fish behavior, but Mizrahi said it came after fishermen threw nets into the water, setting off an unusually “aggressive” escape response, according to Hadashot TV news.
