The Times of YISRAEL #1: My best friend
Presenting the first in a new video series by everyone’s favorite Italian-Irish-Catholic-born Orthodox Jewish standup comic
Here’s episode #1 of The Times of YISRAEL, a new video series from the unique mind of comic Yisrael Campbell.
In this episode, Yisrael has made a momentous decision about his facial hair. It doesn’t stop him from eating as he rants to his buddy Gary about preserving the symbol of his dedication to Judaism — just in case his three circumcisions weren’t enough.
Yisrael was born Italian-Irish-Catholic in Philadelphia, but is now a practicing Orthodox Jew based in Jerusalem. He’s performed his critically acclaimed, hilarious, and touching autobiographical one-man show, “Circumcise Me,” off-broadway in New York City as well as all over the world.
The series is directed by Yisrael’s collaborator, Gary Rudoren, an alumnus of Chicago’s Annoyance Theater and NYC’s Magnet Theater where he has written and directed many solo shows over the last 20 years.
While the heart of The Times of Israel’s work takes place in Israel, so many of Jerusalem’s actions are influenced by those in Washington’s halls of power.
