2 injured as car breaks barrier, hits moving train
Driver suffers moderate injuries, train passenger lightly hurt after vehicle smashes onto crossing

A man was moderately injured Friday afternoon when his car broke through a lowered barrier at a railway crossing and hit a moving train. One of the train’s passengers was lightly injured.
The accident occurred near Zichron Yaakov, south of Haifa. Eyewitnesses said the man drove through the lowered barrier for an unkown reason and hit the train as it passed the crossing at full speed.
The vehicle was dragged along the track and destroyed. Two of the train’s cars were derailed by the impact. However, the car’s driver was not badly hurt, and paramedics said he was on his feet, though dissoriented, when they arrived.
The wounded were treated at the scene before being evacuated to hospital.
Train traffic was delayed by the accident for several hours.
