A resident of the Shuafat refugee camp in East Jerusalem alleged this week that Israeli policemen beat him while in custody — and he has footage to back up his claims.

In a video taken on a mobile phone and published by Israel Radio Tuesday, the policemen could be seen beating and harassing the Arab youth and his friend.

The footage shows the cops slapping the youth forcefully, slamming the door of a police car into him several times, hitting him with the butt of a pistol, and hurling his friend at the vehicle, the radio station reported.

According to the report, the youth was arrested after swearing at a municipal inspector and threatening a policeman.

He has been arrested for several violent incidents in the past.

On Tuesday, police said the youth’s claims would be investigated.
