Prosecutors on Monday morning indicted brothers Yaniv and Moshe Abutbul in a Rishon Lezion court for growing 525 cannabis plants next to their parents’ home in Nes Ziona.
According to a police report, Moshe became a fugitive from the law about a month ago when Yaniv was arrested. He turned himself in to police over the weekend.
Yaniv lives in an apartment adjacent to that of his parents. According to the Maariv daily, during the investigation he was confronted with the testimony of a neighbor concerning his involvement in drugs.
The brothers were in possession of 525 cannabis seedlings and plants, weighing some 55 kilograms (121 lbs.), with no permit. They utilized extensive farming equipment to grow the plants, including irrigation, fertilization, lighting, ventilation and temperature control.
