Father, daughter drown near Tel Aviv’s Reading Power Station
The two were apparently sucked in by the station’s pumps after their boat overturned

A 50-year-old man and his 7-year-old daughter were killed in Tel Aviv Saturday after their small boat overturned at the estuary of the Yarkon Stream with the Mediterranean Sea and they were sucked in by the powerful pumps of the Reading Power Station.
It was unclear whether the two had intentionally drifted into the area near the power station, in which it is forbidden to swim and row, or whether they had been carried there by currents.
The man’s wife called emergency services when she saw that the boat had overturned. Divers were dispatched to the scene, but had to wait for the Electric Company to turn off the pumps before they could safely enter the water.
The bodies of the two were then found and pulled ashore, where paramedics could only declare their deaths.
