Firefighters evacuated employees and battled Saturday to contain a major fire that started at a plastic factory in Caesaria and spread to a nearby box factory.
Paramedics treated two people, one for smoke inhalation and another for light injuries to the leg sustained from jumping off a wall when the fire broke out. Residents of nearby neighborhoods were advised to stay in their homes, and the Environmental Protection Ministry was monitoring pollution levels in the area.
Israeli news source Ynet reported that a month earlier, the factory had been ordered to shut down construction on an outdoor storage facility that did not have fire extinguishing equipment or a permit from fire services.
Authorities are investigating whether the fire originated in that building.
