Hazardous material leak feared after Dimona train crash
Driver said trapped within vehicle carrying bromine gas; area residents told to stay indoors, close windows

An Israel Railways freight train carrying bromine gas collided Monday with three carts which had been parked on the tracks at a station in the southern city of Dimona.
Security forces warned that there was a serious risk of a leak of hazardous material. Dimona residents within 800 meters of the scene of the crash were ordered by police to remain indoors and shut their windows.
According to preliminary reports from the scene, the freight train driver was trapped within the vehicle.
Firefighters were attempting to rescue the driver from the wreckage.
No other injuries were reported in the incident.
Police blocked Route 25 leading into Dimona to traffic in both directions.
