Cpt. Ziv Shilon, who lost his arm in a Hamas attack, proposes to his girlfriend in front of 1,000 FIDF supporters

IDF wounded hero Cpt. Ziv Shilon looked a little nervous as he stepped onstage for a Friends of the Israeli Defense Forces event in Hollywood, Florida, on Thursday.
The theme of the evening was “Saluting the women of the IDF” and after making a speech, Shilon wanted to salute his own girlfriend, Adi Sitbon, at the event.
He called Sitbon up to the stage, as the crowd waited, and he surprised everyone with what happened next.
“We, the combat soldiers, are not the only ones who are doing a great job, but so are our wives, sisters, mothers and girlfriends who support us and give us the opportunity to serve Israel,” said Shilon, who lost his left arm in a Hamas attack near the Israeli-Gazan border in 2012.
“FIDF says that our job is to protect Israel; their job is to give us the reason.”
And after a round of applause from the audience, he continued:
“I wanted to take this opportunity to ask my girlfriend, Adi, just one question. You are my hope, my rock, and my everything. I wanted to ask you, will you marry me?”
A tearful Sitbon fell into his arms, and the vice president of FIDF Greater Miami brought out the ring, which Shilon placed on his new fiancee’s finger with the help of his prosthesis.
After more applause and photographs, the crowd received a special message from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who expressed gratitude to the FIDF and praised Shilon’s heroism.
