Two men have been credited with saving the lives of family members trapped in a burning car in Tottenham, North London, on Sunday.

The men had been celebrating Passover at a local synagogue when they heard screams outside, according to The Daily Mail. They reportedly rushed outside and saw the vehicle engulfed in flames.

Local resident Moses Kupermann and a second man believed to be on holiday from Israel managed to pull an elderly man and a baby from the car seconds before it exploded into a fireball. Two other family members believed to have been traveling in the car are said to have escaped on their own.

The family was reportedly taken into the synagogue to recover. Firefighters that arrived on the scene dealt with the flames while paramedics examined the family.

London’s Metropolitan Police said it had been contacted by the car owner, who said the vehicle was “gutted” by the fire.
