Royal Jordanian Airlines jumped on Republican nominee Donald Trump’s call to ban Muslims from American soil in a tongue-in-cheek ad campaign promoting flights to the US.
“Just in case he wins… Travel to the US while you’re still allowed to!” the Jordanian national airline tweeted as Americans went to the polls to decide between Trump and his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.
The promotion included flights to NY, Detroit, and Chicago.
Less than a year ago, Trump jolted the American political system and shocked much of the world by proposing a temporary ban on all Muslim entry into the United States.
On December 7, 2015, when he first proposed the ban, Trump was just one contender in a crowded GOP field, with many predicting the comment could spell the end of his political run.

The proposal, which came shortly after an Islamic State attack in Paris, drew denunciation from Trump’s fellow Republicans.

One day after a Muslim-American gunman opened fire on an Orlando gay nightclub, killing 49 and wounding 53, Trump gave a speech reiterating his proposal. Trump has since repeated it in television appearances. He also accused American Muslims of not reporting terror threats to law enforcement, claiming “they know who the people are, almost in every case, they know who they are, they brag about it, they talk about it.”
