The Jaffa Military court on Sunday extended until Wednesday the remand of an IDF soldier suspected of leaking classified information to far-right groups in the West Bank.
The soldier, 25 year-old Corporal Elad Sela from the West Bank settlement of Bat Ayin, was apprehended by the Shin Bet security service last month after he allegedly passed secret information regarding planned arrests of right-wing activists to residents of his home town, Army Radio reported.
The offenses attributed to Sela were deemed by the Shin Bet to pose a serious threat to the country’s national security, according to Army Radio.
Military censors placed a gag order on the publication of any further details of Sela’s interrogation or nature of his alleged actions, citing major security concerns.
