Police search for perpetrator of assault on 17-year-old girl, say motive behind act likely criminal

A 17-year-old girl was severely wounded in a stabbing overnight Friday-Saturday in the city of Kiryat Malachi.
Paramedics treated her at the scene of the stabbing and rushed her to the Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot, where she underwent emergency surgery for injuries to her upper body.
Police were investigating the details surrounding the stabbing, and launched a search for the perpetrator of the assault.
Initial findings indicated the stabbing to be criminally motivated, police said.
