Israeli woman killed, five family members injured in jeep accident in Tanzania
Insurance company says it flew Israeli doctor to East African country to help with medical treatment; Foreign Ministry working with local authorities to assist with arrangements

A 30-year-old Israeli woman was killed and five members of her family were lightly injured in a jeep accident on a safari trip in Tanzania on Saturday.
The Foreign Ministry told The Times of Israel on Sunday that the incident was “known to the Department for Israelis Abroad at the Foreign Ministry and the Israeli Consulate in Nairobi, and we are working to assist the family and the medical team that went to the scene.”
In a statement cited by Hebrew media outlets, the Harel insurance company said that the family had been evacuated by helicopter to a local hospital with a range of injuries and that an Israeli doctor was flown out to assist with their medical treatment.
The woman was reportedly critically injured when the jeep she and her family were traveling in rolled over.
“Following the unfortunate road accident in Tanzania, we at Harel decided to immediately send an Israeli doctor to provide a quick and optimal medical response to the policyholders,” a Harel official was quoted as saying.
“We are in continuous and direct contact with the families and are making sure to update them and assist with whatever is needed, as well as being in contact with the Foreign Ministry.”
The woman’s body will be flown to Israel for burial in the coming days, according to Hebrew media.
