Bennett urges Gaza ground op

Minister of Economics and Trade Naftali Bennett urges a ground operation in the Gaza Strip, saying it would be a “mistake” to cut short Operation Protective Edge in the way Operation Cast Lead was curtailed in 2008.

“All options are on the table,” he tells a Channel 2 panel. “We are currently in a rare situation where 40,000 of our best soldiers and commanders are ready” for a ground offensive.

“The people are telling us, ‘We are ready to go on enduring this situation, just solve the problem,’ ” Bennett says.

He adds that he believes his words reflect the position of “millions” of Israelis on the ongoing operation.
