The evacuation of residents from the Gaza border town of Sderot is set to begin in the coming hours.
The municipality emphasizes that evacuation is not mandatory, but that it recommends residents leave the area.
Residents are being moved to hotels in Eilat and Jerusalem, with the possibility of also going to Tel Aviv.
There are around 7,000 households in the town, according to the Ynet news site.
Last week authorities evacuated residents of the hard-hit Gaza-area communities devastated by Hamas gunmen.
The towns included Nahal Oz, Erez, Nir Am, Mefalsim, Kfar Aza, Gevim, Or Haner, Ibim, Netiv Ha’asara, Yad Mordechai, Karmia, Zikim, Kerem Shalom, Kissufim, Holit, Sufa, Nirim, Nir Oz, Ein Hashlosha, Nir Yitzhak, Be’eri, Magen, Re’im, Sa’ad and Alumim.
In the north, Metula has in recent days recommended that residents leave the town amid the tensions.
Additionally, thousands more living in areas that have come under heavy rocket fire are thought to be displaced, moving to stay in parts of the country that are quieter.
