Hamas says that US President Donald Trump’s nascent Board of Peace should pressure Israel to halt what the terror group described as ongoing violations of the Gaza ceasefire.

“We urge the board’s members to take serious action to compel the Israeli occupation to stop its violations in Gaza, as the war of genocide against the Strip is still ongoing,” Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem tells AFP ahead of the body’s inaugural meeting this week in Washington.

The Board of Peace, chaired by Trump, intends to oversee the reconstruction of postwar Gaza.

Israel rejects accusations of genocide. Following incidents of attacks on troops in Gaza during the ceasefire, the IDF has launched waves of strikes against Hamas and allied terror groups, targeting both operatives and infrastructure.

Also, since the start of the ceasefire in October, the IDF has said it has killed dozens of terror operatives and other suspects who have crossed the Yellow Line and approached troops. Such incidents have taken place on a near-daily basis.
