Hawkish Knesset members slam ceasefire plans

Hard-line right-wing MKs are furious over reports that Israel and Hamas may be on the brink of an Egyptian-mediated ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

Housing and Construction Minister Uri Ariel (Jewish Home) says a ceasefire with Hamas would be a “mark of disgrace” for the Israeli government.

“Deterrence has not been achieved,” Ariel tweets. “Apparently ‘triumphing’ is a dirty word,'” he says.

MK Miri Regev (Likud) calls on the prime minister not to agree to the deal, urging him to “reach a decisive military victory which will weaken Hamas.”

“This window of opportunity will not repeat itself, and any ceasefire with Hamas will enable it to regain strength,” Regev says.
