High Court upholds rabbinate monopoly on kosher certificates
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe High Court rules that a restaurant cannot present itself as kosher unless it has a certificate from the Chief Rabbinate.
The court decision is a blow to alternative kashrut organizations that in recent years have offered kosher certificates in lieu of the rabbinate and effectively upholds the rabbinate’s monopoly on the matter.
