IDF confirms Hamas fired at tank

The IDF confirms that Hamas fired at an Israeli tank but denies that it was destroyed, as its military wing had claimed.

“Earlier this afternoon, terrorists in Gaza fired an anti-tank missile at an IDF tank positioned near the security fence in the northern Gaza Strip,” reads a statement released by the military this afternoon.

“The missile was successfully intercepted by the Trophy Active Protection System installed on the tank. No injuries or damage were caused.”

Hamas’s military wing claimed earlier today that it destroyed an Israeli tank east of Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza Strip. Hamas said it destroyed the tank completely with a Kornet anti-tank missile.

Earlier Monday, Israel declared the region around Beit Lahiya a closed military zone, likely indicating concerted military action in the area.
