The Israel Defense Forces says it has struck some 40 Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) targets in the Gaza Strip since it launched Operation Breaking Dawn yesterday afternoon.

The IDF says the targets include at least six Islamic Jihad weapon manufacturing workshops, two weapons storage sites, six observation posts and five rocket-launching positions.

The IDF estimates it has killed around 10 Islamic Jihad terror operatives in the airstrikes, but also says that two or three uninvolved Palestinians have been killed. The Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza says the casualties include a five-year-old girl.
